Now Restored to a full working Layout ,More tracks and rolling have been added since last year. (8 tracks 2009)
New for this season is the display room, which contains display models all kinds of transport.
A display of a bus Rest Room with uniforms and ticket machines from local operators
As a working museum there are two pits still in use today to restore our fleet of vehicles.
We also have on display many tools for servicing and repairing the vehicles in the workshops.
The Long Room which is now our parts and machine tool store. (updated building works 2009)
The Mess room is still in use today as it was when the museum was once a working garage.
The Video room is under construction and connecting rooms for our 2007 open day show (updated -now diplays/shop)
when finished this will contain our archives of the Museum and local history.(now open 2009)
The museum has a large collections of books from workshops manuals, magerzines and
timetables which will be on display soon. New display area which will be open for our Oct Open Day. One Section is nearly finished which has a 1940s theme with poster and display from Canvey and Old Leigh back to early 1900s .Tram routes from the Southend and District.A history in transport told in old photos.
A new display area is under way inside the museum which will be open in time for our october show,four new rooms have been restored giving more items and equiptment to be shown.Many of thedisplays will be about forms or Transport from the local area along with tools and engine parts on show.Photos of Canvey,Benfleet,Leigh and Southend from the 1900s.Another room will be restored working office, complete items from its day as a working bus garage.Our mess room has been revamped to modern day standards (was needed doing-special thanks to Keith) .Lastly a Display area with items on sale.This is only part of plans for the museum next year will see some more changes.Be sure to visit us you`re always welcome.
2009 started with a large change to the inside ,to use the top floor space for displays and archives.A new fire escape to each floor,new fire exit doors.Replace the windows 1930s to a more up to date version.New refreshment area under progress.When the building work is finished visitors will be able to travel throughout the museum.There is a very good view overlooking the Hadleigh downs from the top floor inside the museum.We hope to have most of the work finished in time for Open day show in Oct 11th.The building work and repairs will be carried out within a two year period ,finished for 2010 season.Refreshment area now open in time for christmas farmers market and new years day.The display area and tea room upstairs well under way and should be open for the 2010 season.This offers visitors the chance to view more displays and the view of hadleigh downs over a cup of tea from new refreshment tea room. With the option to use this area to hold club meetings,school visits,private functions etc.2010 has more to offer the public and well worth a visit, Open for 2010 Season at Easter
