2016 season

After a period of uncertainty for all of us, the Museum has started planning for the future and despite ongoing building works, we are again pleased to be welcoming visitors from near and far.

Our next 'Open Sunday' is Sunday, August 21st, 2022. Doors will be open from 10.30am to 4.00pm, and you will be able to come in and have a casual look around. Vehicles will be on static display and members of the team will be on hand to welcome you. Entrance is free, but as we are completely funded by donations we'll have boxes around the building should you be willing to make a donation!  Please note, we regret we can not offer vehicle rides on this day.

Special Events are on our radar too. We are taking part in National Heritage Week as the theme this year is ‘Astounding Inventions’ and the Museum certainly has plenty of examples of those, from the wheel to the internal combustion engine. Be sure to visit us for 'BIG WHEELS KEEP ON ROLLING' on September 18th, as we will combine an Open Sunday with one of our popular Canvey History Trail events to include historical vehicle rides and commentaries relating to Canvey Island. The event is free, though we do appreciate your donations of course!

Canvey Island Transport Museum has many members who support its work in all sorts of different ways, and we’re always keen to encourage new members to join us. If being a member of the Society that runs the Museum appeals to you, then please contact us at

We look forward to welcoming you to our Museum soon!
